About Us

As a long-time programmer with over twenty five years in the business, I have always had great appreciation for the men and women in the Quality Assurance (QA) departments. I love to find people who are diligent and determined not to allow a product out the door with any defects so that the customer will have an enjoyable experience with it. All too often, I see these fine people in QA struggle with the volume of required tests to be performed and thrash with the cyclic nature of develop, test, fix, rinse, and repeat all over again. The Bugs Dashboard is an attempt to help the fine people who work diligently to protect companies and customers alike by ensuring products are of the highest quality, and nothing less.

The Bugs Dashboard will not make decisions for you—you may inevitably still ship software that is bug laden, does not meet the customer’s expectations, and/or is simply poor quality. However, what the Bugs Dashboard can do, and is built to do, is help you see the big picture vastly clearer, enabling you to make better, more informed decisions. It can help you focus on the right priorities and severities in your products, the ones of most importance, but it will not, and can not do the work for you. The program can do a multitude more than I have described, including one more very important task: it can help you clearly communicate the state of development amongst your team, with senior management, with stakeholders, and with customers. This is all possible due to the nature in how the program is built to be simplistic, organized, modular, detailed, and informational with many more benefits.

My thanks to Frank, Roxanne, Nagin, Laura and all the other QA Managers and Engineers who were there to ensure that the software that reached the customer was the best representation of our team and company that it could possibly be and who taught me the value and importance of listening to and working with my QA Engineers. I have built this system to honor your work and to show my appreciation for the knowledge you all have been gracious enough to instill within me; thank you again, and I hope that my work serves you all with great benefit.
